Having a clear and accurate understanding of what back pain is, and what you should do about it, is very helpful for recovery.
To make sure that we included things that are relevant to people with back pain, we interviewed a number of people with acute and chronic back pain. These people are the source of the quotes you find on this site. We are very grateful to these people.
We combined the information from the interviews with the latest back pain research from around the world.
This means that some of the things we say may be different to what you have heard elsewhere, even from health professionals. They may not be aware of the latest research.
The FREE approach to acute low back pain is currently the subject of ongoing research within the University of Otago.
