Your General Practitioner

Your GP is a great person to help manage your back pain:

  • they can give you the right pain relief
  • they are very good at ruling out serious reasons for your pain

If you have received this booklet from your GP it also means they have completed a training course which has taught them about the latest back pain research, and the best ways to assess and treat back pain.

Do not be concerned if your doctor says that they do not know what is ‘causing’ your pain. The cause is not important. It is your response which makes the difference.
